Knocking, Unsettling, Ceding

open access: yesNordic Journal of Comparative and International Education, 2020
This paper explores a reflexive decolonizing framework, arising from a teachers` first four years of teaching practice in an Indigenous community in the North of what is commonly known as Australia[A1].

Knock, Knock. Who's There? On the Security of LG's Knock Codes

open access: yesCoRR, 2020
Knock Codes are a knowledge-based unlock authentication scheme used on LG smartphones where a user enters a code by tapping or "knocking" a sequence on a 2x2 grid. While a lesser used authentication method, as compared to PINs or Android patterns, there is likely a large number of Knock Code users; we estimate, 700,000--2,500,000 in the US alone.

lncRNA MALAT1 promotes HCC metastasis through the peripheral vascular infiltration via miRNA-613: a primary study using contrast ultrasound

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2022
Highlights 1. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) grading was positively correlated with lncRNA MALAT1 in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). 2. lncRNA MALAT1 expressed high and miRNA-613 expressed low in HCC tissues of patients with HCC.

Effects of Flame Propagation Velocity and Turbulence Intensity on End-Gas Auto-Ignition in a Spark Ignition Gasoline Engine

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Knocking is a destructive and abnormal combustion phenomenon that hinders modern spark ignition (SI) engine technologies. However, the in-depth mechanism of a single-factor influence on knocking has not been well studied.

Flame propagation and auto-ignition of n-C7H16 / air premixture in high temperature / pressure closed vessel

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology
In this study, the auto-ignition and flame propagation under high temperature and pressure conditions are experimentally investigated. n-C7H16/air mixture is ignited by electric spark at the center of a constant volume vessel of 20-mm inner diameter and ...

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Effects of pre-mixed gas composition on combustion characteristics of micro pilot dual fuel (MPDF) in a heavy-duty dual fuel engine

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
The effects of premixed gas compositions on the combustion characteristics in micro pilot duel fuel (MPDF) conditions were investigated. Propane, hydrogen, and carbon dioxide gases were added to methane gas, and engine experiments were conducted under ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Approximate analysis of SI engine knocking using Wavelet and its control with cooled exhaust gas recirculation [PDF]

open access: yesFME Transactions, 2016
Engine knocking acts as an obstruction for improving the engine performance, hence limiting the compression ratio below the highest usable compression ratio (HUCR). Even though the design condition is kept much below HUCR, knocking occurs during the long-

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.
