The excited‐state antiaromaticity of hydroxybenzotropyliums (HBTs) can be tuned through substituent effects to bring the aromatic ‘enol’ (E) and keto (K) tautomers close in energy. This leads to abnormally slow excited‐state proton transfer (on the ns timescale), giving rise to dual fluorescence emission and weak photoacidity.

Low-cost synthesis of small molecule acceptors makes polymer solar cells commercially viable
The high−cost of the acceptor-donor-acceptor structured small molecule acceptors impedes its commercial viability for polymer solar cells. To address this problem, here, the authors developed a simple and cheap boron trifluoride etherate-catalyzed ...

Interaction Hierarchy and Polymorphic Structure–Property Dynamics in Luminescent Molecular Crystals
Competing homotypic and heterotypic intermolecular interactions give rise to polymorphic structure–property dynamics in luminescent molecular crystals. Thermal and mechanical stimuli induce distinct phase‐transition pathways accompanied by pronounced photoluminescence changes.
