A Method for Knowledge Modeling
International Journal of Knowledge Management, 2006Since knowledge management (KM) is considered to be an important function of a successful business operation, many organizations are embracing KM. The success of a KM project is dependent upon its contents. This article presents a method for building an effective knowledge model that can help businesses to analyze and specify knowledge content.

Knowledge representation and inference is a key issue of Knowledge Grid. This paper proposes Knowledge Map (KM) model for representing and reasoning causal knowledge as an overlay in Knowledge Grid. It extends Fuzzy Cognitive Map (FCM) to represent and infer not only cause-effect causal relations, but also time-delay causal relations, conditional ...

Knowledge is connected to a subject (a theory, a lesson) but Process Knowledge is connected to an object and to its production process. This leads to the need for a specific approach to the actual use of process knowledge models while carrying out processes. Models may then be constructed to guide, support and provide advice or instructions to users.

Model, description and knowledge
Synthese, 1960It is not my intention to speak about the use of models in scientific inquiry or the connections between formal systems, theories and models. The problem I should like to discuss can be loosely stated as follows: Do our scientific books and articles contain descriptions of nature; does the scientist construct a picture or model of nature?

Knowledge modeling – State of the art [PDF]
A major characteristic of developments in the broad field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) during the 1990s has been an increasing integration of AI with other disciplines. A number of other computer science fields and technologies have been used in developing intelligent systems, starting from traditional information systems and databases, to modern ...

Knowledge Modelling in Support of Knowledge Management
2001In this paper knowWeb - European Commission funded research project is briefly introduced. the project aims at the development of tools as well as methodology to support knowledge management especially in small and medium sized enterprises (SME). We build our approach on top of conceptual modelling of company specific problem domain.

Models in Knowledge Management
2009Knowledge Management (KM) consists of a set of concepts, techniques and tools for creating, representing, distributing and evolving knowledge within an organizational context. This knowledge may be about the domain (e.g., cars and the car market for an auto maker), the organization itself (e.g., its current state, objectives, plans, finances), but also

Unified Modeling Language for Knowledge Modelling
International Conference on Computational Intelligence for Modelling, Control and Automation and International Conference on Intelligent Agents, Web Technologies and Internet Commerce (CIMCA-IAWTIC'06), 2006Knowledge modelling techniques are widely adopted for designing knowledge-based systems (KBS) and these systems are important for knowledge management. This paper argues the need and importance of adopting Unified Modeling Language (UML) for knowledge modelling through the profile extension mechanism.
