A uniform approach to modelling data, information and knowledge is given. One feature of this approach is that items of data, information and knowledge can be combined with one another in a natural way. Another feature is that a single principle of normalisation is introduced which may be applied to data, information and to knowledge.

Domain-driven knowledge modelling for knowledge acquisition
Knowledge Acquisition, 1994Abstract Knowledge modelling is undoubtedly a major problem in knowledge acquisition. Drawing from industrial case studies that have been carried out, the paper lists some key problems which still dog knowledge modelling. Next, it critically reviews current knowledge modelling techniques and tools and concludes that these real knowledge acquisition ...

Knowledge tracing: Modeling the acquisition of procedural knowledge
User Modelling and User-Adapted Interaction, 1995This paper describes an effort to model students' changing knowledge state during skill acquisition. Students in this research are learning to write short programs with the ACT Programming Tutor (APT). APT is constructed around a production rule cognitive model of programming knowledge, called theideal student model.

A Knowledge Lifecycle Model for Measurement of Knowledge Change
2012In this paper, a Knowledge Lifecycle Model is proposed to enable the characterisation and quantification of change in knowledge elements, which is a potentially important contributing factor in judging the applicability of the knowledge-based system approach for business and engineering tasks..

The knowledge diffusion model associated with innovative knowledge
Expert Systems with Applications, 2009Introducing innovative knowledge into the existing knowledge base will enhance enterprise benefits successfully. Recent studies presented numerous strategies to manage innovative knowledge; however, these strategies cannot be explored quantitatively and dynamically. This study presents a knowledge diffusion model associated with innovative knowledge to

A model of knowledge acquisition that refocuses knowledge management
Journal of Knowledge Management, 2002This paper presents a model of knowledge acquisition from definitions of data, information and knowledge. The model asserts that knowledge cannot exist outside of the human brain, and that any expression of the knowledge requires it to be transformed into information to be communicated outside of the brain.

Abstract This chapter develops mathematical models of the theories of omega knowledge discussed in the book. The models build on Williamson’s appearance/reality models. These models are used to carefully explore problem cases from previous chapters.
