Orbital Kondo-Effect From Tunneling Impurities [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics B, 1997
The article reviews recent results for the low energy physics of fast tunneling centers in metallic environments. For strong enough couplings to the environment these tunneling centers display an orbital Kondo effect and give rise to a non-Fermi-liquid behavior.

Observing the universal screening of a Kondo impurity

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
The Kondo effect, deriving from a local magnetic impurity mediating electron-electron interactions, constitutes a flourishing basis for understanding a large variety of intricate many-body problems. Its experimental implementation in tunable circuits has

Two-orbital Kondo effect in quantum dot coupled to ferromagnetic leads

open access: yes, 2011
We study the Kondo effect of a two-orbital vertical quantum dot (QD) coupled to two ferromagnetic leads by employing an equation of motion method. When the ferromagnetic leads are coupled with parallel spin polarization, we find three peaks in the single-

KONDO EFFECT IN MESOSCOPIC SYSTEM

open access: yes, 2007
We discuss numerically exact continuous-time Quantum Monte Carlo algorithms for electronic structure calculations of nanosystems with a general non-local in space-time interaction. The problem of three interacting Kondo impurities on metallic substrate has been investigated.

Dissipative realization of Kondo models

open access: yesCommunications Physics
The Kondo effect is a prototypical strongly correlated phenomenon, and it is usually discussed in the context of unitary dynamics. Here, we demonstrate that the Kondo effect can be induced through non-linear dissipative channels, without requiring any ...

Magnetism in f electron superlattices

open access: yes, 2016
We analyze antiferromagnetism in $f$ electron superlattices. We show that the competition between the Kondo effect and the RKKY interaction in $f$ electron materials is modified by the superlattice structure.

Kondo lattice without Nozières exhaustion effect [PDF]

open access: yesEurophysics Letters (EPL), 2006
We discuss the properties of layered Anderson/Kondo lattices with metallic electrons confined in 2D xy planes and local spins in insulating layers forming chains in z direction. Each spin in this model possesses its own 2D Kondo cloud, so that the Nozieres' exhaustion problem does not occur.

Kondo Effect in Magnetic Tunnel Junctions [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2007
Tunneling magnetoresistance was found to be suppressed with decreasing temperature for magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) oxidized under high plasma power. A strong temperature dependence of the junction resistance was observed, along with zero-bias anomalies of dynamic resistance at low temperatures.

A Canonical Transformation for the Anderson Lattice Hamiltonian with f–f Electron Coupling

open access: yesAdvances in Condensed Matter Physics
In this work, a new canonical transformation for the Anderson lattice Hamiltonian with f–f electron coupling was developed, which was further used to identify a new Kondo lattice Hamiltonian.
