Front dynamics during diffusion-limited corrosion of ramified electrodeposits [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Experiments on the diffusion-limited corrosion of porous copper clusters in thin gap cells containing cupric chloride are reported. By carefully comparing corrosion front velocities and concentration profiles obtained by phase-shift interferometry with ...

Numerical analysis of reversible A + B <-> C reaction-diffusion systems

open access: yes, 2003
We develop an effective numerical method of studying large-time properties of reversible reaction-diffusion systems of type A + B C with initially separated reactants. Using it we find that there are three types of asymptotic reaction zones.

Extending an eco-evolutionary understanding of biofilm-formation at the air-liquid interface to community biofilms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Growing bacterial populations diversify to produce a number of competing lineages. In the Pseudomonas fluorescens SBW25 model system, Wrinkly Spreader mutant lineages, capable of colonising the air-liquid interface of static microcosms by biofilm ...
