Assessing venous thromboembolism risk in lung cancer: a comprehensive evaluation of the khorana score, clinical characteristics, and incidence of thrombosis

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
IntroductionVenous thromboembolism (VTE) occurrence in patients with lung cancer is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. The Khorana Score (KRS) is a validated risk stratification tool developed to estimate risk of VTE in patients with ...

Simple yet (more?) effective. Venous thromboembolism risk assessment model for germ cell tumour patients receiving first‐line chemotherapy

open access: yesCancer Medicine, 2023
Background Germ cell tumours (GCT) are highly curable malignancies. Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a serious complication, needing better risk assessment models (RAM).

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Shape Memory Polymers: From Bead–Spring Models to Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

Decadal and Monthly Change of an Empirical Coefficient in the Relation between Solar Radiation and the Daily Range of Temperature in Japan: Implications for the Estimation of Solar Radiation Based on Temperature

open access: yesPlant Production Science, 2014
: The need for solar radiation (Rs, MJ m–2 d–1) estimation remains a common concern for agronomists. Evaluation of crop productivity is primarily based on Rs data, which are difficult to collect because of cost and calibration requirements.

Experimental Characterization and Constitutive Modeling of the Effect of Prior Inelastic Strain on the Viscoplastic Behavior of AD730 at 700 °C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.

Charge Generation and Recombination Pathways in All‐Polymer Bulk Heterojunction Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multimodal spectroscopy and device analysis reveal how field‐dependent charge generation, transport limitations, and non‐geminate recombination govern performance losses in all polymer solar cells. The results identify the key processes controlling charge extraction and recombination, providing insights for the design of more efficient all‐polymer ...

A truncating mutation in ATP13A2 is responsible for adult-onset neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis in Tibetan terriers

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2011
A recessive, adult-onset neuronal ceroid-lipofuscinosis (NCL) occurs in Tibetan terriers. A genome-wide association study restricted this NCL locus to a 1.3 Mb region of canine chromosome 2 which contains canine ATP13A2. NCL-affected dogs were homozygous
