From Hemp Bast to Lyocell Fiber: Sustainable Process Optimization for Lyocell‐Grade Dissolving Pulp

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 143, Issue 16, April 20, 2026.
This study presents a sustainable method to produce lyocell‐grade dissolving pulp from Canadian hemp bast fibers. A simplified alkali‐chelation‐bleaching process, free from sulfur and chlorine, yielded high α‐cellulose pulp with low lignin and hemicellulose content. The pulp was successfully spun into continuous hemp‐based lyocell fibers, demonstrating

Thermal Stabilization of Chitosan Yarn for Carbon Fiber Production

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 143, Issue 13, April 5, 2026.
This study explores chitosan, a biopolymer derived from chitin, as a renewable precursor for carbon fiber production. The authors demonstrate that chitosan fibers can be successfully stabilized under controlled thermal conditions in air and nitrogen.

Anti-scaling agents in kraft pulping

open access: yesBioResources, 2007
Scale formation in the digester during kraft pulping represents a great problem in pulp mills. Scaling reduces pulping control and efficiency, increasing energy costs and leading to cleaning breakdowns, with subsequent losses in productivity.

Revisiting acidulation for tall oil and lignin manufacturing

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 104, Issue 4, Page 1677-1691, April 2026.
Abstract Tall oil is a byproduct of the kraft pulping process when softwood is used as raw material. As the production of softwood‐based pulp is in high demand, the optimization of the tall oil production process needs to be revisited to ensure the highest quality and quantity of tall oil manufacturing. In this work, the process for tall oil production

Chip-Handling and Kraft Pulping.

open access: yesJAPAN TAPPI JOURNAL, 1996

Mechanical Performance Under Compressive Load of Carboxylated Nitrile Rubber and Kraft Lignin Composites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue 5, Page 3983-3993, 10 March 2026.
Lignin dispersion in carboxylated nitrile rubber (XNBR) is enhanced at 7% carboxylic acid, significantly improving the composite's compressive mechanical performance for sealing applications. ABSTRACT Lignin is a promising biobased material that enhances the sustainability of rubber composites as a reinforcing filler.

INCORPORATION OF BARK AND TOPS IN EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS WOOD PULPING

open access: yesBioResources, 2012
Bark and the tops of E. globulus trees were considered for kraft pulping under industrial conditions. Pulping experiments included wood, bark, tops, and composite samples. Top wood had an average chemical composition most similar to that of wood but with
