A Freshwater Pearl Mussel Polysaccharide Alleviates Inflammatory Pain by Targeting Peripheral Cytokines and Spinal Astroglial NLRP3/GFAP Responses

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
Mussel polysaccharide (MP), a novel food resource from pearl mussels, alleviates inflammatory pain in rats in a dose‐dependent manner. It acts by dually inhibiting peripheral inflammation (reducing paw swelling and pro‐inflammatory cytokines) and spinal neuroinflammation via the NLRP3 and astrocyte pathway.

Pixel Lens: A Granular Assessment of Saliency Explanations

open access: yesArtificial Intelligence for Engineering, Volume 2, Issue 1, Page 1-17, March 2026.
We propose a pipeline that detects shortcut‐dominated classifiers by comparing predictions on clean and shortcut‐perturbed images and checking dominance via a Shapley‐based ground‐truth explainer. The workflow quantifies the explanation quality of different explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) methods.

Negative Frequency‐Dependent Selection Promotes Strain Structure in a Plant Pathogen

open access: yesEcology Letters, Volume 29, Issue 1, January 2026.
Strains of the plant pathogen Pseudomonas syringae, defined by the combination of virulence factors known as effectors, exhibit in isolates from the Midwestern US a modular population structure congruent with core genome phylogeny. A stochastic and individual‐based computational model supports a role of negative frequency‐dependent selection in ...

A synthesis view of counterfactuals

open access: yesPhilosophy and Phenomenological Research, Volume 112, Issue 1, Page 130-160, January 2026.
Abstract There are two prominent views of counterfactuals in the literature—variably strict conditional accounts developed by Stalnaker 1968 and D. K. Lewis 1973, and strict conditional accounts defended by von Fintel 2001, Gillies 2007, and others. Unfortunately, both views face serious challenges. This paper argues that traditional strict conditional

The Language of Uncertainty: Reading Türkiye's Economic Pulse Through Geopolitical Fog

open access: yesThe World Economy, Volume 49, Issue 1, Page 30-51, January 2026.
