Abstract The geochronology of metasediments incorporated to orogenic wedges provides an important key in understanding the early evolution of collisional systems. This study reveals the timing of Variscan processes in the Saxothuringian orogenic wedge, reflecting transition from oceanic to continental subduction and collision.
