Solving large-scale assignment problems by Kuhn-Munkres algorithm
Kuhn-Munkres algorithm is one of the most popular polynomial time algorithms for solving clas- sical assignment problem. The assignment problem is to find a n a ssignment o f t he j obs t o t he w orkers that has minimum cost, given a cost matrix X 2 R ...

Restitution: A New Paradigm for Criminal Justice [PDF]
This paper will analyze the breakdown of our system of criminal justice in terms of what Thomas Kuhn would describe as a crisis of an old paradigm- punishment.

Abstract Walruses have been an important subsistence and cultural resource for humans and have been exploited for millennia across their distribution. This exploitation has contributed to severe declines in several populations and local extirpations.

Kuhn Losses Regained: Van Vleck from Spectra to Susceptibilities [PDF]
We follow the trajectory of John H. Van Vleck from his 1926 Bulletin for the National Research Council (NRC) on the old quantum theory to his 1932 book, The Theory of Electric and Magnetic Susceptibilities.

Broadening the semiaquatic scene: Quantification of long bone microanatomy across pinnipeds
Abstract Investigations of bone microanatomy are commonly used to explore lifestyle strategies in vertebrates. While distinct microanatomical limb bone features have been established for exclusively aquatic and terrestrial lifestyles, identifying clear patterns for the semiaquatic lifestyle remains more challenging.

Patterns of spinal motion, kinematic spaces and the land‐to‐sea transition in carnivorans
Using 3D reconstructions, we quantify intervertebral joint mobility to investigate how cervical, thoracic, and lumbar vertebral regions evolved distinct kinematic roles in pinnipeds. The findings reveal lineage‐specific adaptations for swimming and highlight the functional significance of vertebral joint flexibility in ecological transitions.

Best Approximation from the Kuhn-Tucker Set of Composite Monotone Inclusions [PDF]
Kuhn-Tucker points play a fundamental role in the analysis and the numerical solution of monotone inclusion problems, providing in particular both primal and dual solutions.

Abstract ChatGPT and related technologies have revived an old issue in information science (IS) concerning information retrieval (IR) versus document retrieval. Since 1950, the term IR has primarily been used as a misnomer for document retrieval. This problematic terminology reflects a desire to go beyond documents and provide, in response to user ...

Solving Coupled Composite Monotone Inclusions by Successive Fejér Approximations of their Kuhn-Tucker Set [PDF]
We propose a new class of primal-dual Fejer monotone algorithms for solving systems of composite monotone inclusions. Our construction is inspired by a framework used by Eckstein and Svaiter for the basic problem of finding a zero of the sum of two ...
