Truncated Lévy flights and generalized Cauchy processes
A continuous Markovian model for truncated Lévy flights is proposed. It generalizes the approach developed previously by Lubashevsky et al. [Phys. Rev. E 79, 011110 (2009); Phys. Rev. E 80, 031148 (2009), Eur. Phys. J.

The predatory behavior of ants: an impressive panoply of morphological adaptations
This review focuses on predation in ants, showing the wide diversity of cases from solitary foraging to group hunting tactics, as well as the evolution of mandible shape frequently adapted to capture specific prey. Although most ants are generalist feeders, finding their sugary substances directly on plants or indirectly via sap‐sucking insects, some ...

Lévy Flight Model of Gaze Trajectories to Assist in ADHD Diagnoses
The precise mathematical description of gaze patterns remains a topic of ongoing debate, impacting the practical analysis of eye-tracking data. In this context, we present evidence supporting the appropriateness of a Lévy flight description for eye-gaze ...

Effect of the microbiome on pathogen susceptibility across four Drosophilidae species
Four Drosophilidae species were used to investigate how variation in the host microbiome influences susceptibility to infection. Microbial composition and abundance differed among species and treatments. The effects of microbiome manipulation on host survival were both species‐ and pathogen‐specific.

Lévy flights in binary optimization
There are many optimization heuristics which involves mutation operator. Reducing them to binary optimization allows to study properties of binary mutation operator.

Small Noise Asymptotics of a Lévy Flights Driven Displacement Process
In this paper we consider a second-order Langevin equation for the motion of a Lévy flights particle subject to a linear Stokes’ damping. In the limit of small noise amplitude we determine the law of the continuous displacement process as well as the law

Ants contribute to raspberry pollination in protected cropping systems
Ants visited raspberry flowers more frequently than European honey bees (Apis mellifera), Australian stingless bees (Tetragonula carbonaria) and flies, many transporting raspberry pollen on their bodies, indicating potential pollination capacity. Ants were active flower visitors at most times of the day and may extend the daily pollination window and ...

Features of barrier crossing event for Lévy flights
The steady-state time characteristics of anomalous diffusion in the form of Lévy flights in a symmetric bistable quartic potential are examined. Based on a previously developed technique, we obtain the exact formula for the correlation time of particle ...
