ROSE-L: Copernicus L-Band Sar Mission
2021 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium IGARSS, 2021The Radar Observing System for Europe at L-band (ROSE-L) is part of the Copernicus Expansion Programme which focuses on new missions that have been identified by the European Commission (EC) as priorities for implementation in the coming years. ROSE-L provides additional capabilities above and beyond those of the current Sentinel missions, filling ...

The L-band SAR pre-development
SPIE Proceedings, 2004This paper outlines the development status of an L-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) antenna demonstrator undertaken by an industrial consortium under contract to the European Space Agency (ESA). Its aim is to verify the technology and the satisfactory performance of the SAR active antenna in advance of the development of the full L-band SAR ...

Measurement of sea level by L-band SAR
IGARSS 2003. 2003 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium. Proceedings (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37477), 2004We present a method to measure tide height from L- band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data. We have successfully constructed 17 coherent interferograms from JERS-1 SAR data over oyster sea-farming structures. The coherent phases preserved in the interferograms showed a close relation with sea level.

Peatland ecosystem characterization employing L-band SAR
IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2003Peat swamp forests are very important sources of carbon among the terrestrial forest ecosystems. Large areas of peat swamp forests have been deforested in the recent past. A time series of L-band SAR data has been employed to detect the deforestation that has occurred in the central Kalimantan region, Indonesia, between 1994 and 1998.
