Efficient open fermentative production of polymer-grade L-lactate from sugarcane bagasse hydrolysate by thermotolerant Bacillus sp. strain P38. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Lactic acid is one of the top 30 potential building-block chemicals from biomass, of which the most extensive use is in the polymerization of lactic acid to poly-lactic-acid (PLA).

Chopped basalt fibres: A new perspective in reinforcing poly(lactic acid) to produce injection moulded engineering composites from renewable and natural resources [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper focuses on the reinforcing of Poly(lactic acid) with chopped basalt fibres by using silane treated and untreated basalt fibres. Composite materials with 5–10–15–20–30–40 wt% basalt fibre contents were prepared from silane sized basalt fibres

Targeting transcription factors associated with hemoglobinopathies: Lessons from successful interventions and implications for cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the transcription factors, repressive chromatin‐modifying complexes, and epigenetic mechanisms that control fetal hemoglobin repression. Notably, many regulators of γ‐globin silencing also function in transcriptional and epigenetic networks that drive cancer, highlighting opportunities to translate advances in hemoglobinopathy ...

ISOLATION OF Rhizopus oryzae FROM ROTTEN FRUIT AND ITS POTENCY FOR LACTIC ACID PRODUCTION IN GLUCOSE MEDIUM WITH AND WITHOUT ADDITION OF CALCIUM CARBONATE

open access: yesAgritech, 2014
Studies on lactic acid production by filamentous fungi Rhizopus oryzae have been explored in the world. Unfortunately, these studies are still limited in Indonesia, particularly studies in lactic acid production by indigenous strain R. oryzae.

Microbial Synthesis of Lactic Acid from Cotton Stalk for Polylactic Acid Production

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2023
Cotton stalk, a waste product in agriculture, serves as a beneficial, low-cost material as a medium for microbial synthesis of lactic acid as desired for polylactic acid synthesis. Cotton stalk was used as a substrate for microbial lactic acid synthesis,

Comparative genomics of lactic acid bacteria reveals a niche-specific gene set [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
peer-reviewedBackground: The recently sequenced genome of Lactobacillus helveticus DPC4571 1 revealed a dairy organism with significant homology (75% of genes are homologous) to a probiotic bacteria Lb. acidophilus NCFM 2. This led us to hypothesise that

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Evaluating the effect of γ‐oryzanol on MASLD pathology using a medaka fish model

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores a liver disease called MASLD, which is increasing worldwide and can lead to serious damage. Researchers used medaka fish instead of rodents to test a food compound, γ‐oryzanol. Fish fed this compound had less liver fat and healthier gut bacteria.

Increase of optical purtiy of L-lactic produced by engineered Escherichia coli by enhancing anaerobic expression of dld gene [PDF]

open access: yesZhongguo niangzao
In order to eliminate D-lactic acid in cheap fermentation raw materials and improve the optical purity of L-lactic acid in fermentation final product, the expression plasmids of D-lactate dehydrogenase gene (dld) with different anaerobic inducible ...
