Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Recently, in a series of EAST discharges using deuterium neutral beam injection (NBI), tritium (T) ions were produced via deuterium–deuterium (D–D) fusion reactions, resulting in excited ion cyclotron emission (ICE) within the plasma core in H-mode ...

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Thickness of the Layer of Strong Radial Electric Field in JFT-2M H-mode Plasmas
The poloidal rotation velocity profiles both in L- and H mode measured in JFT-2M are compared with H-mode models based on ion orbit loss. The profiles of poloidal rotation velocity measured in L- and H- mode is consistent with the calculation which ...

Simulation of dynamic delamination and mode I energy dissipation [PDF]
Delamination initiation and propagation of aeronautic composites is an active field of research. In this paper we present a methodology for critical energy release rate correlation of numerical simulation and experimental data.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Velocity profile shapes in Alcator C-Mod plasmas
Toroidal rotation velocity spatial profiles ( $r/a$ $ \lt $ 0.8) have been obtained from C-Mod over a wide range of operational conditions, including H-mode, I-mode, ICRF-heated L-mode and Ohmic L-mode (LOC and SOC), and in plasmas with ITBs, LH wave ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...
