Random matrix theory and moments of moments of $L$-functions
We give an analytic proof of the asymptotic behaviour of the moments of moments of the characteristic polynomials of random symplectic and orthogonal matrices.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Hybridization and magnetism in small FePt alloy clusters
Magnetic properties of small, mass selected, Fe and FePt alloy clusters deposited on a remanently magnetized Ni/Cu(001) substrate have been investigated using x-ray magnetic circular dichroism. Strong size- and stoichiometry-dependent magnetic properties

Informativeness of teleconnections in frequency analysis of rainfall extremes [PDF]
We propose an effective and reproducible framework to assess the informative content of teleconnections (or climate indices) for representing and modeling the frequency regime of rainfall extremes at regional scale.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

REGIONAL FREQUENCYANALYSIS FOR EXTREME RAINFALL IN SICILY
The study regarded the regional frequency analysis of extreme rainfall in Sicily, using rainfall annual maximum series of duration 1, 3, 6, 12 and 24 hours in 235 sites, stationed in all Sicily and for the period 1928-1998.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Forest Plot Decay Level Classification from ALS-Derived L-moments [PDF]
Forests play key roles in climate regulation and essential environmental services for living organisms. This is why forests are the central focus of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 15).

Comparisons of the LH Moments and the L Moments [PDF]
This paper discusses comparisons of the LH moments method with L moments method. LH moments, a generalization of L moments, based on linear combinations of higher-order statistics was introduced for charactering the upper part of distributions and larger
