ABSTRACT Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. High‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) is the standard first‐line therapy for acute attacks, although some patients remain refractory.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Dimension-Five Operators in Grand Unified Theories
Extensions of the standard model with low-energy supersymmetry generically allow baryon- and lepton-number violating operators of dimension four and five, yielding rapid proton decay.

Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

During field surveys in 2013 and 2014, about 14 weed plants showing phytoplasma diseases symptoms including yellowing and witches’broom were collected and tested by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using universal primers for 16SrRNA starting by primer ...

The mass of the Higgs boson in the trinification subgroup of E6
The extension of the standard model to SU(3)_L x SU(3)_R x SU(3)_C is considered. Spontaneous symmetry breaking requires two Higgs field multiplets with a strong hierarchical structure of vacuum expectation values.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

A-models in three and four dimensions [PDF]
We introduce and study a new 3d Topological Field Theory which can be associated to any compact real manifold X. This TFT is analogous to the 2d A-model and reduces to it upon compactification on an interval with suitable boundary conditions.

Aspects of symmetry breaking in SO(10) GUTs
I review some recent results on the Higgs sector of minimal SO(10) grand unified theories both with and without supersymmetry. It is shown that nonsupersymmetric SO(10) with just one adjoint triggering the first stage of the symmetry breaking does ...
