Geminal Difunctionalization of Ketones via C─S Bond Insertion of Photogenerated Donor–Donor Diazo Compounds

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Geminal difunctionalization of readily available building blocks provides rapid access to molecular complexity. This work introduces a strategy for installing two distinct functional groups on a carbonyl carbon by transforming it into a donor–donor diazo compound, enabling both batch and flow applications with broad solvent compatibility.

The mitochondrial ribosomal protein L13 is critical for the structural and functional integrity of the mitochondrion in Plasmodium falciparum [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2018
The phylum Apicomplexa contains a group of protozoa causing diseases in humans and livestock. Plasmodium spp., the causative agent of malaria, contains a mitochondrion that is very divergent from that of their hosts. The malarial mitochondrion is a clinically validated target for the antimalarial drug atovaquone, which specifically blocks the electron ...

”Green” Managerial Delegation and Environmental Corporate Social Responsibility in Different Market Structures

open access: yesCentral European Management Journal, 2019
Purpose: Assuming a duopoly industry with pollution producing processes, the aim of this work is to study the firms’ choice to engage in Environmental Corporate Social Responsibility (ECSR) by means of “green” managerial delegation, i.e.

Information search in everyday decisions: The generalizability of the attraction search effect

open access: yesJudgment and Decision Making, 2019
The recently proposed integrated coherence-based decisions and search model (iCodes) makes predictions for search behavior in multi-attribute decision tasks beyond those of classic decision-making heuristics.

Mapping additive and epistatic QTLs for forage quality and yield in soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merri.] in two environments

open access: yesBiotechnology & Biotechnological Equipment, 2021
Soybean plants have high protein content and can be used as a supplementary source of high-protein feed. To map quantitative trait loci (QTL) for the content of crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fibre (NDF), acid detergent fibre (ADF) and dry weight ...

Life as an ethnic minority (EM) university student: Comparing mental health challenges among local and international EM students in Hong Kong

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract University students globally face growing mental health challenges, with ethnic minority (EM) students—both local and international—being particularly vulnerable. Yet, limited research compares their experiences or identifies shared and distinct stressors, especially in non‐Western contexts.

SUPPLEMENT: “LOCALIZATION AND BROADBAND FOLLOW-UP OF THE GRAVITATIONAL-WAVE TRANSIENT GW150914” (2016, ApJL, 826, L13) [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 2016
ABSTRACT This Supplement provides supporting material for Abbott et al. (2016a). We briefly summarize past electromagnetic (EM) follow-up efforts as well as the organization and policy of the current EM follow-up program. We compare the four probability sky maps produced for the gravitational-wave transient GW150914, and provide ...

Synthesis of Homo- and Heterobimetallic Ni\u3csup\u3eII\u3c/sup\u3e–M\u3csup\u3eII\u3c/sup\u3e (M = Fe, Co, Ni, Zn) Complexes Based on an Unsymmetric Ligand Framework: Structures, Spectroscopic Features, and Redox Properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Several homo- and heterobimetallic NiII–MII complexes (MII = Fe, Co, Ni, Zn) supported by an unsymmetric polydentate ligand (L13−) are reported (L13− is the trianion of 2-[bis(2-hydroxy-3,5-tert-butylphenyl)aminomethyl]-4-methyl-6-[(2-pyridylmethyl ...

The evidence base for ranger patrol effectiveness in conservation and how to improve it

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ranger patrols are a cornerstone of wildlife protection efforts around the world and occur across all ecological governance systems. Evidence that patrols reduce threats to wildlife and enable their recovery has not been systematically examined previously.
