L31 Transposons of Hexacorallia: Distribution, Diversity, and Evolution

Russian Journal of Genetics
Transposable elements (TE) of eukaryotes – retrotransposons and DNA transposons – are nucleotide sequences that can move from locus to locus of the genome, as well as between the genomes of different organisms. L31 DNA transposons are an ancient and diverse group belonging to the large IS630/Tc1/mariner group. L31 transposons are not widespread and are

Induction and differential expression of certain novel proteins in Anabaena L31 under UV-B radiation stress [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2015
For examining how UV-B radiation alters the proteome of the N2-fixing cyanobacterium, Anabaena L31, we extracted proteins from cultures irradiated with UV-B + white light and controls (white light irradiated) and analyzed the proteins using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time of flight mass ...

Proteomic study of the Bacillus subtilis ribosome: Finding of zinc-dependent replacement for ribosomal protein L31 paralogues

open access: yesJournal of General and Applied Microbiology, 2006
Recent advanced studies of genomics and proteomics have revealed the variation and diversity of ribosomal proteins (r-proteins) in different organisms and organelles. Radical free and highly reducing (RFHR) two-dimensional (2-D) electrophoresis is known to be powerful for separating ribosomal proteins that are usually small and basic, and not separated

YkgM and YkgO maintain translation by replacing their paralogs, zinc‐binding ribosomal proteins L31 and L36, with identical activities [PDF]

open access: yesGenes To Cells, 2020
AbstractWhen a cell is zinc‐deficient, ykgM and ykgO, which encode paralogs of the zinc‐binding ribosomal proteins L31 and L36, are expressed from the ykgM operon, which is ordinarily held inactive by the Zur repressor. In ribosomes lacking L31, ribosomal subunit association is weakened, resulting in reduced in vitro translation and the deletion ...

Structure and Evolution of DNA Transposons of the L31 Superfamily in Bivalves

Molecular Biology
The mobile genetic elements IS630/Tc 1/mariner (ITm) are widespread DNA transposons that make a significant contribution to the evolution of eukaryotic genomes. With the start of large-scale application of next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and the emergence of many new whole genome sequences of organisms in nucleotide sequence collections ...

Hydrogen production characteristics of photoheterotrophic Rubrivivax gelatinosus L31

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2008
Abstract A new strain of Rubrivivax gelatinosus (designated as L31) was isolated from the sediment of a local reservoir. Testing against 10 organic substrates, this strain could produce hydrogen from carbohydrates, including glucose, sucrose and starch, as well as from lactate and malate.

Primary structure of Escherichia coli ribosomal protein L31

Biochemistry, 1978
Protein L31 from the 50S ribosomal subunit of Escherichia coli was manually sequenced by the dansyl-Edman method. Owing to the availability of only small quantities of purified L31, sequencing methods were scaled down such that the entire primary structure could be determined with 700 microgram of protein.

Nucleotide sequence of cloned cDNA specific for rat ribosomal protein L31

European Journal of Biochemistry, 1987
A cDNA clone, specific for rat ribosomal protein L31, was isolated by hybrid‐selected translation from a cDNA library made for 8–9‐S poly(A)‐rich RNA from regenerating rat liver. The nucleotide sequence of the cDNA was determined. It consists of 25 base pairs from the 5′ leading sequence, the entire coding sequence of 378 base pairs and the 3′ trailing

Thyroid uptake measurement using iodine-l25 and iodine-l31

Physics in Medicine & Biology, 1969
Due to the low energy (27.4 kev) of the photons emitted by 125I, the external measurement of thyroid activity requires a significant correction for tissue absorption. This correction can be determined by administering simultaneously a low dose of 131I.
