Characterization of Zn(II)-responsive ribosomal proteins YkgM and L31 in E. coli [PDF]
RT-PCR and DNA microarrays were used to probe for Zn(II)-responsive genes in E. coli cells that were made Zn(II) deficient. Microarray data revealed 114 genes were significantly up-regulated and 146 genes were significantly down-regulated in Zn(II) deficient conditions.

Hydrogen production characteristics of photoheterotrophic Rubrivivax gelatinosus L31
International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2008Abstract A new strain of Rubrivivax gelatinosus (designated as L31) was isolated from the sediment of a local reservoir. Testing against 10 organic substrates, this strain could produce hydrogen from carbohydrates, including glucose, sucrose and starch, as well as from lactate and malate.

YkgM and YkgO maintain translation by replacing their paralogs, zinc‐binding ribosomal proteins L31 and L36, with identical activities [PDF]
AbstractWhen a cell is zinc‐deficient, ykgM and ykgO, which encode paralogs of the zinc‐binding ribosomal proteins L31 and L36, are expressed from the ykgM operon, which is ordinarily held inactive by the Zur repressor. In ribosomes lacking L31, ribosomal subunit association is weakened, resulting in reduced in vitro translation and the deletion ...

Induction and differential expression of certain novel proteins in Anabaena L31 under UV-B radiation stress [PDF]
For examining how UV-B radiation alters the proteome of the N2-fixing cyanobacterium, Anabaena L31, we extracted proteins from cultures irradiated with UV-B + white light and controls (white light irradiated) and analyzed the proteins using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time of flight mass ...

Nucleotide sequence of cloned cDNA specific for rat ribosomal protein L31
European Journal of Biochemistry, 1987A cDNA clone, specific for rat ribosomal protein L31, was isolated by hybrid‐selected translation from a cDNA library made for 8–9‐S poly(A)‐rich RNA from regenerating rat liver. The nucleotide sequence of the cDNA was determined. It consists of 25 base pairs from the 5′ leading sequence, the entire coding sequence of 378 base pairs and the 3′ trailing

L31 Transposons of Hexacorallia: Distribution, Diversity, and Evolution
Russian Journal of GeneticsTransposable elements (TE) of eukaryotes – retrotransposons and DNA transposons – are nucleotide sequences that can move from locus to locus of the genome, as well as between the genomes of different organisms. L31 DNA transposons are an ancient and diverse group belonging to the large IS630/Tc1/mariner group. L31 transposons are not widespread and are

Thyroid uptake measurement using iodine-l25 and iodine-l31
Physics in Medicine & Biology, 1969Due to the low energy (27.4 kev) of the photons emitted by 125I, the external measurement of thyroid activity requires a significant correction for tissue absorption. This correction can be determined by administering simultaneously a low dose of 131I.
