A 2MASS L Dwarf Companion to the Nearby K Dwarf GJ 1048
We report the discovery of a probable L1 companion to the nearby K2 dwarf GJ 1048 using the Two Micron All-Sky Survey (2MASS). This source, 2MASSI J0235599-233120 or GJ 1048B, has 2MASS near-infrared colors and absolute magnitudes consistent with an early L dwarf companion with a projected separation of 250 A.U. The L1 spectral type is confirmed by far-

Analysis of Keck HIRES Spectra of Early L-Type Dwarfs [PDF]
We present analyses of high- and medium-resolution spectra of early L dwarfs. We have used our latest set of model atmospheres to reproduce and analyze the observed features.

The Relationship Between Interest Rates and Agricultural Commodity Price Dynamics
ABSTRACT The U.S. Federal Reserve has undertaken several interest rate interventions in the past decade. This study explores the relationship between U.S. corn and soybean prices and Federal Reserve monetary policy interventions, in the short and long run.

The Gaia Ultracool Dwarf Sample. I. Known L and T dwarfs and the first Gaia data release [PDF]
We identify and investigate known ultracool stars and brown dwarfs that are being observed or indirectly constrained by the Gaia mission. These objects will be the core of the Gaia ultracool dwarf sample composed of all dwarfs later than M7 that Gaia ...

We present the most precise constraints to date for the mass and age distributions of single ultracool dwarfs in the solar neighborhood, based on an updated volume-limited sample of 504 L, T, and Y dwarfs within 25 pc.

Serendipitous discovery of seven new southern L-dwarfs
We report the discovery of seven hitherto unknown L-dwarfs found as a result of a spectroscopic search for distant AGB stars. Their far-red and near-infrared colours are very similar to known dwarfs of the same spectral type. One new object is among the ~

SDSS J080531.84+481233.0: An Unresolved L Dwarf/T Dwarf Binary [PDF]
SDSS J080531.84+481233.0 is a peculiar L-type dwarf that exhibits unusually blue near-infrared and mid-infrared colors and divergent optical (L4) and near-infrared (L9.5) spectral classifications. These peculiar spectral traits have been variously attributed to condensate cloud effects or subsolar metallicity.

Optimizing 3D Bin Packing of Heterogeneous Objects Using Continuous Transformations in SE(3)
This article presents a method for solving the three‐dimensional bin packing problem for heterogeneous objects using continuous rigid‐body transformations in SE(3). A heuristic optimization framework combines signed‐distance functions, neural network approximations, point‐cloud bin modeling, and physics simulation to ensure feasibility and stability ...
