Geological age of the Yunyang dinosaur eggs revealed by in-situ carbonate U-Pb dating and its scientific implications

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
The Cretaceous Period, marked by global events such as volcanic activity, oceanic anoxic episodes, and the end-Cretaceous mass extinction, has been extensively studied in marine records.

Synergistic Fe–Si Dual‐Site Pathway Engineering in Biomass‐Derived Carbon Matrix for High‐Performance Oxygen Reduction Reaction

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
We report a dual‐atomic Si–Fe–N–C catalyst synthesized from nitrogen‐rich pinecones and an Fe porphyrin precursor. The inherent Si and N in pinecones form a porous Si–N–C framework that stabilizes Fe atoms during pyrolysis, yielding robust Si–Fe dual sites.

In situ boron isotope determination in amphibole by LA-MC-ICP-MS: matrix effects and new potential reference materials [PDF]

open access: yes
The B isotope systematics (δ11B) in amphibole offer insights into fluid- and melt-dominated processes in the crust-mantle system. We developed an analytical strategy for in situ B isotope determination in amphibole using LA- MC-ICP-MS on material with a ...

Eco‐Friendly Synthesis of Cobalt Phthalocyanine for High‐Efficiency CO2${\rm CO}_{2}$ Electroreduction

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A sustainable synthesis of cobalt phthalocyanine (CoPc) using low‐impact solvents yields high‐performance electrocatalysts with reduced waste (E‐factor 18.6). When integrated into gas diffusion electrodes, CoPc achieves up to 12% Faradays efficiency for CO2‐to‐methanol and 65% CO2‐to‐CO conversion, aligning with state‐of‐the‐art materials and enabling ...

Progress and Application of Mass Spectrometry Techniques for Single Particle Analysis in Nuclear Safeguard

open access: yesZhipu Xuebao
The nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT) is one of the cornerstones regulating the international order. To make sure that all the member states fulfill their obligation under the treaty, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has constructed a ...

Microplastics and nanoplastics in water: Improving removal in wastewater treatment plants with alternative coagulants

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
The contaminant removal performance of a conventional coagulant, alum, and alternative coagulants, aluminium chlorohydrate (ACH) and ACH + pDADMC, are compared in challenging wastewater treatment conditions (pH >7.8). The interactions of each coagulant with a negatively charged surface are depicted based on quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation ...

Constraining Geogenic Sources of Boron Impacting Groundwater and Wells in the Newark Basin, USA

open access: yesHydrology
The Newark Basin comprises Late Triassic and Early Jurassic fluvio-lacustrine rocks (Stockton, Lockatong, Passaic, Feltville, Towaco, and Boonton Formations) and Early Jurassic diabase intrusions and basalt lava flows.

Crystallization of Cathode Active Material Precursors from Tartaric Acid Solution

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
This work investigates a novel approach for closing the gap between recycling and production of lithium‐ion battery cathode material. The new concept is based on antisolvent crystallization of metal carboxylates, which can be directly used as precursors in production of cathode material.
