Silicon nanophotonic devices for integrated lab-on-a-chip sensing
2010 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology, 2010We present our recent progress in designing nanophotonic devices for integrated sensing applications. We focus on Si-based microresonators and on-chip spectrometers as the main building blocks to implement compact sensing platforms with strong light-matter interaction.

Single cells as experimentation units in lab-on-a-chip devices
Trends in Biotechnology, 2010'Lab-on-a-chip' technology (LOC) has now reached a mature state and is employed commonly in research in the life sciences. LOC devices make novel experimentation possible while providing a sophisticated environment for cellular investigation. As a next step, we introduce here the concept of a 'lab-in-a-cell': the use of a single cell as a minimal and ...

High-pressure liquid chromatography in lab-on-a-chip devices
Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2007The miniaturization of high-pressure (or high-performance) liquid chromatography (LC) concerning the column inner diameter (i.d.) and volumetric flow rates is an ongoing trend that is mainly driven by the need to handle small volumes of complex sample, e.g., for the elucidation of physiological processes and identification of successful drug candidates,

Lab-on-a-chip Devices for Advanced Biomedicines
The global miniature devices market is poised to surpass a valuation of $12–$15 billion USD by the year 2030. Lab-on-a-chip (LOC) devices are a vital component of this market. Comprising a network of microchannels, electrical circuits, sensors, and electrodes, LOC is a miniaturized integrated device platform used to streamline day-to-dayopenaire +1 more source
Integrated Spectrometers for Lab-on-a-Chip Devices
2013Miniaturization of spectrometers for microfluidic applications is currently an intense area of research. This thesis is devoted to the design, fabrication, and testing of a planar optical microspectrometer. Optical microspectrometers are potentially important candidates for noninvasive detection and identification of cells and other biological material.
