An Analysis of Label Distribution Protocol (LDP) Deficiencies

open access: closed2022 3rd International Conference for Emerging Technology (INCET), 2022
MPLS (Multi-protocol label switching) is the technology of choice for most service provider networks. LDP (Label distribution protocol) is the commonly used protocol for label distribution in such networks.

Improving the reliability of the label distribution protocol

open access: closedProceedings LCN 2001. 26th Annual IEEE Conference on Local Computer Networks, 2002
The LDP (label distribution protocol) is used in the control plane to control an optical network. The data plane and the control plane of an optical network could be physically separate. So a failure in the control plane does not necessarily imply a data plane failure and that user communications have to be interrupted.

Validation of the detailed design of the label distribution protocol for the multiprotocol label switching system

open access: closedGLOBECOM'01. IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference (Cat. No.01CH37270), 2002
We describe the development and the analysis of the label distribution protocol (LDP) for the multiprotocol label switching system. We review the implementation issues that are required to construct the LDP for a gigabit switched router, and propose a detailed design of the LDP.
