Actin dynamics controlled by IqgC, a RasGAP at the crossroads between the IQGAP and fungal GAP1 families

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IqgC is a RasGAP from Dictyostelium discoideum. IqgC binds RasG via its RasGAP domain and deactivates it on macroendocytic cups, thereby suppressing the uptake of fluid and particles. IqgC has a positive effect on cell‐substratum adhesion, and its RGCt domain is required for recruitment to ventral foci.

Study of FEC at edge node of optical code label switching network

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2012
The structure block of the optical code label switching network was built, and the design scheme for the forwarding equivalent classes (FEC)was proposed employing OCDM technology which was appropriate for variable packets transmission and allow the label ...

Predictors of switching antipsychotic medications in the treatment of schizophrenia

open access: yesBMC Psychiatry, 2010
Background To identify patient characteristics and early changes in patients' clinical status that best predict subsequent switching of antipsychotic agents in the long-term treatment of schizophrenia.

Do Consumers Really Care about Genetically Modified (GM) Food Label? What Do We Know? What Else Should We Know? [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper employs household survey data to examine whether GM food labeling has an impact on consumers’ vegetable oil purchasing decision. Direct variables indicating consumers’ response to label regulation are employed to test labeling effect.

Transcriptional regulation of neuropeptide receptors underlies context‐dependent adaptation in Drosophila melanogaster

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Under environmental changes, the expression level of neuropeptide (NP) and neuropeptide receptor (NPR) genes changes to confer context‐dependent adaptation to the model organism Drosophila melanogaster. Through finding more regulatory elements in the NPR genes in comparison with their ligands (NPs), we found that NPR‐biased transcriptional regulation ...

Electrical pulse stimulation reflecting the episodic nature of real‐life exercise modulates metabolic and secretory profile of primary human myotubes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Here, we introduced an intermittent electrical stimulation protocol mimicking the episodic nature of real‐life exercise in vitro by alternating low‐ and high‐frequency stimulation. In comparison with widely used continuous stimulation, it enhanced the rate of glucose and fatty acid oxidation, but not the myokine release.

Nanophotonics with the scanning electron microscope

open access: yes, 2007
Physical size and power consumption are both increasingly important issues in increasing the data throughput of future optical interconnects, switches and ultimately even optical memory elements.

The impact of Hnrnpl deficiency on transcriptional patterns of developing muscle cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We performed nanopore whole‐transcriptome sequencing comparing RNA from Hnrnpl‐knockdown versus control C2C12 myoblasts to investigate the contributions of Hnrnpl to muscle development. Our results indicate that Hnrnpl regulates the expression of genes involved with Notch signaling and skeletal muscle, particularly splicing patterns of specific muscle ...
