Label switching and transmission of FSK-PPM signal in optical label switching

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
A novel orthogonal modulation scheme combining frequency shift keying (FSK) for label at 2.5 Gb/s and pulse position modulation (PPM) for payload at 40 Gb/s is proposed in this paper. The transmission performance and some influencing factors of the modulation scheme are demonstrated by simulation.

Switching Performance of a Novel Optical Label Switch with Time Domain Separated WDM Labels

2005 Pacific Rim Conference on Lasers & Electro-Optics, 2005
A novel wavelength-division-multiplexing label scheme for an optical label switch is proposed which has several advantages such as high-spectral and high-network efficiency, the bit-by-bit separation of labels without any active devices, and the label with low power consumption.

Reroute sequence planning for label switched paths in multiprotocol label switching networks

Proceedings. Sixth IEEE Symposium on Computers and Communications, 2002
This paper deals with the problem of reroute sequence planning for label switched paths (LSPs) in multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) networks. This problem arises when the path set is recalculated by a global optimization method for achieving a better resource utilization.

Evolution of multiprotocol label switching

IEEE Communications Magazine, 1998
Multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) is rapidly emerging as an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standard intended to enhance the speed, scalability, and service provisioning capabilities in the Internet. MPLS uses the technique of packet forwarding based on labels, to enable the implementation of a simpler high-performance packet forwarding ...

A novel method for label switching

WCC 2000 - ICCT 2000. 2000 International Conference on Communication Technology Proceedings (Cat. No.00EX420), 2002
A novel model is introduced to implement label switching. It is a model that implements both control-driven and data-driven label switching approaches. We call this novel model the PLS (partial label switching) model. Compared to models such as MPLS, the PLS model may save approximately 75%-88% of VC space, with a little sacrifice (5% to 17%) to the ...

Multiprotocol Label Switching

2015
Last, but not least, is a discussion on Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS). This chapter provides an overview of MPLS and covers how to configure and troubleshoot it. It also discusses protocols that commonly use MPLS for their underlying transport.

Routing and Label Space Reduction in Label Switching Networks [PDF]

open access: possible, 2009
This chapter is devoted to the analysis and modeling of some problems related to the optimal usage of the label space in label switching networks. Label space problems concerning three different technologies and architectures – namely Multi-protocol Label Switching (MPLS), Ethernet VLAN-Label Switching (ELS) and All-Optical Label Switching (AOLS) – are

IP next generation label switching [PDF]

open access: possibleIEEE Workshop on IP Operations and Management, 2003
This paper proposes the forwarding of IPv6 packets using label switching techniques, with the same advantages of the multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) architecture. The paper proposes the mapping of all MPLS header fields into the IPv6 header, raising several advantages like the simplicity of the model and the decrease of overhead.
