Label switching and IP version 6

Proceedings 7th International Conference on Computer Communications and Networks (Cat. No.98EX226), 2002
This paper discusses how the strict hierarchical address structure of IP version 6 and high levels of IP route aggregation will effect the operation of popular label switching techniques. We predict that the introduction of IP version 6 will cause significant problems with control driven label switching proposals such as MPLS and Tag Switching.

On loop control in multiprotocol label switching

Proceedings ITCC 2003. International Conference on Information Technology: Coding and Computing, 2004
MPLS has been enhanced with the capability to precisely engineer traffic tunnels to avoid congestion and utilize all available bandwidth in an efficient manner. The distributed fashion of setting up the labels and formation of data tunnels for the assigned FEC (forwarding equivalence class) is a highly sophisticated mechanism, involving great dexterity

Transmission performance of the SCM label in optical label switching networks

Optics Communications, 2007
We have investigated the transmission performance of the label signal in the optical double sideband subcarrier multiplexing (DSB-SCM) label switching link and clarified that the degradation of the label signal results from the fiber chromatic dispersion and the incomplete filtering out of the payload carrier.

Enhancing label space usage for Ethernet VLAN-label switching

Computer Networks, 2009
Ethernet is positioning itself as an aggregation technology for carrier transport networks; however, as it was designed for local area networks, native bridged Ethernet does not fulfill all carrier requirements. Ethernet VLAN-label switching (ELS) has been designed to make Ethernet fulfill carrier requirements. ELS allows the creation of label switched

Designing multiprotocol label switching networks

IEEE Communications Magazine, 2001
Multiprotocol label switching adds to the capabilities of IP networks in several ways. Despite new capabilities, MPLS technology has much in common with ordinary IP networks. In turn, the design process for MPLS networks has much in common with the design of any IP network.

Wireless multiprotocol label switching (WMPLS)

Conference Record of Thirty-Fifth Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers (Cat.No.01CH37256), 2001
The framework of wireless multiprotocol label switching (WMPLS) technology in applications of broadband wireless mobile communications is presented here. WMPLS has been designed to be a homogeneous protocol to multiprotocol label switching (MPLS), Generalized MPLS (GMPLS), and MPLambdaS, which are the strongest candidates for next generation networking

Traffic engineering with multiprotocol label switching

E-Tech 2004, 2004
This paper discusses traffic engineering with multiprotocol label switching in an Internet service provider's network. First traffic engineering is introduced. Then problems with traditional router cores and IP overlay networks are discussed. Finally a strategy for traffic engineering utilizing multiprotocol label switching is discussed.
