Boundary layer chemical vapor synthesis of self-organized radial filled-carbon-nanotube structures [PDF]
We report a new chemical vapor synthesis method that exploits random fluctuations in the viscous boundary layer between a laminar vapor flow and a surface to yield a not previously observed product: radial ferromagnetically filled-carbon-nanotube ...

Labile carbon input suppresses Q
Understanding the temperature sensitivity (Q 10 ) of soil organic carbon (SOC) decomposition, as constrained by the activation energy (E a ) of microbial metabolism, is critical for predicting climate-carbon feedbacks.

Refractory and labile organic carbon in coral reef seawater
Coral reef seawater samples from Bora Bay off Miyako Island in Okinawa, Japan were incubated with an initial volume of 20 liters. The degradation of organic carbon in this seawater was monitored for more than three months in dark, unstirred polycarbonate vessels by measuring the concentration of organic carbon in the seawater.

Metastable Polymers for Circular 3D Printing
3D‐printed polymers are usually permanent and hard to recycle. Here, metastable polymers are designed to fall apart on demand. A chemical trigger unzips the printed material back into its original building blocks within minutes at room temperature.

Persistent Shelf‐to‐Basin Export of Bioavailable Dissolved Organic Carbon in the Arctic Ocean
Microbial carbon demand often exceeds local primary production in the oligotrophic central Arctic Ocean. Whether shelf‐derived dissolved organic carbon (DOC) provides a persistent carbon subsidy to reconcile this imbalance remains unclear.
