Quantum‐Grade Nanodiamonds from a Single‐Step, Industrial‐Scale Pressure and Temperature Process

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Novel method for creation of nitrogen‐vacancy centers in 50‐nm nanodiamonds based on high‐temperature plastic deformation is demonstrated. Compared to the electron irradiation approach, it yields nitrogen‐vacancy centers with significantly improved charge stability, T1 relaxation time, and optical Rabi contrast.

Synthetic ocitocin in induced labor and its maternal and fetal repercussion/Ocitocina sintética no trabalho de parto induzido e suas repercussões materno-fetais

open access: yesDiversitas Journal, 2020
Synthetic oxytocin is a pharmacological method widely used to induce labor, when it does not occur physiologically due to some clinical or physical condition of the pregnant woman or the baby, but it happens that this drug can be used in an ...

Living Liquid Metal Composites Embedded with Electrogenic Endospores for Next‐Generation Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A new class of living liquid metal composites is introduced, embedding Bacillus subtilis endospores into eutectic gallium–indium (EGaIn). The spores enhance droplet coalescence, strengthen interfacial conductivity, and provide on‐demand electrogenic functionality after germination. The composites exhibit high conductivity, self‐healing, patternability,

Activation of the epithelial sodium channel (ENaC) leads to cytokine profile shift to pro‐inflammatory in labor

open access: yesEMBO Molecular Medicine, 2018
The shift of cytokine profile from anti‐ to pro‐inflammatory is the most recognizable sign of labor, although the underlying mechanism remains elusive. Here, we report that the epithelial sodium channel (ENaC) is upregulated and activated in the uterus ...

Minimum Wage Employment Effects and Labor Market Concentration

open access: yesSocial Science Research Network, 2019
Why is the employment effect of the minimum wage frequently found to be close to zero? Theory tells us that when wages are below marginal productivity, as with monopsony, employers are able to increase wages without laying off workers, but systematic ...

RNA‐Micelles as Self‐Assembling Structures for Efficient Co‐Delivery of Synergistic siRNA and Nucleoside Analogues to Treat CRC Lung Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two kinds of self‐assembled RNA micelles were used to co‐deliver synergistic siRNA and nucleoside analogues for the treatment of colorectal cancer lung metastases. Near‐complete elimination of lung cancer metastases was confirmed in an orthotopic lung metastasis model constructed using human colorectal cancer lung metastases patient surgical samples to

Decidual Neutrophil Infiltration Is Not Required for Preterm Birth in a Mouse Model of Infection-Induced Preterm Labor

open access: yesJournal of Immunology, 2014
Parturition is associated with a leukocyte influx into the intrauterine tissues; however, the exact role these leukocytes play in the onset of labor remains unclear.

Microneedle‐Based Biofertilizer Delivery Improves Plant Growth Through Microbiome Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This figure shows how microneedles are used to deliver biofertilizers to enhance plant growth through microbial migration, metabolic reprogramming, and changes in plant endogenous microbiome. Abstract This study presents a microneedle‐based system for the delivery of rhizospheric biofertilizers into plant tissues to enhance growth.
