Quantum measurement as driven phase transition: An exactly solvable model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
A model of quantum measurement is proposed, which aims to describe statistical mechanical aspects of this phenomenon, starting from a purely Hamiltonian formulation. The macroscopic measurement apparatus is modeled as an ideal Bose gas, the order parameter of which, that is, the amplitude of the condensate, is the pointer variable.

Regulation and Function of the Atypical IκBs—Bcl‐3, IκBNS, and IκBζ—in Lymphocytes and Autoimmunity

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 55, Issue 5, May 2025.
This review article summarizes the currently available information on the functions of atypical IκB proteins including Bcl‐3, IκBNS, and IκBζ, which have been studied mostly in mouse models. We focus on the regulation of these modulators of transcription, describe their role in lymphocyte differentiation, and their involvement in the development of ...

A Compact Apparatus for Muon Lifetime Measurement and Time Dilation Demonstration in the Undergraduate Laboratory [PDF]

open access: yesAm.J.Phys. 74 (2006) 161-164, 2005
We describe a compact apparatus that automatically measures the charge averaged lifetime of atmospheric muons in plastic scintillator using low-cost, low-power electronics and that measures the stopping rate of atmospheric muons as a function of altitude to demonstrate relativistic time dilation. The apparatus is designed for the advanced undergraduate

Thyroid‐Targeted Nano‐Bombs Empower HIFU for Graves' Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 11, March 20, 2025.
To promote the application of HIFU on GD therapy, this study develops a thyroid‐targeted nano‐bomb system (PSAPI) with a core of PFH and DC, encapsulated in a PLGA‐silica shell, further coated with PDA and modified with iodine and TSHR antibodies. In vitro and in vivo results show PSAPI's excellent stability, biocompatibility, and functionality, making
