Schwannomas of the lacrimal gland fossa
Orbit, 2009Schwannomas are rare benign nerve sheath tumours that account for 1% of orbital tumours and, although sometimes associated with neurofibromatosis, most occur as isolated lesions and arise from branches of the ciliary or trigeminal nerves. Two rare cases of Schwannoma arising within the lacrimal gland fossa are presented, these tumours being managed with

Ectopic lacrimal gland in a complex choristoma involving the lacrimal sac fossa
Complex choristomas involving the lacrimal drainage system are not common. Ectopic lacrimal gland within complex choristomas has been described in the eyelid and orbit. We describe a pediatric case of complex choristoma with ectopic lacrimal gland involving the lacrimal sac fossa and partly the medial eyelid and orbit along with a brief review of ...

Lacrimal Bone Thickness at the Lacrimal Sac Fossa
Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 1996* BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Because laser dacryocystorhinostomy techniques have become more popular during the past few years, interest has grown concerning the anatomic structures that need to be penetrated in these procedures. The authors therefore studied the thickness and the histologic type of the lacrimal bone at the lacrimal sac fossa.

Calcifications in Lesions of the Fossa of the Lacrimal Gland
Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1985It is frequently reported that calcification in the fossa of the lacrimal gland is a reliable sign of malignancy. We present a small, previously unreported series of lacrimal gland fossa calcifications, in which in three out of five cases the lesion was benign.

Cavernous Hemangioma of the Lacrimal Fossa
Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, 1986A 56-year-old woman presented with proptosis of the left eye for over 1 year. The clinical presentation and computerized tomographic scan findings were consistent with a benign mixed lacrimal gland tumor. An extensive excision of the tumor was planned through a lateral orbitotomy with bone flap.

Juvenile Xanthogranuloma of the Lacrimal Sac Fossa
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1997Masses involving the medial canthus and lacrimal sac fossa include dacryocystoceles and, less commonly, mucoceles, hemangiomas, diverticula, and lacrimal sac neoplasms. To our knowledge, juvenile xanthogranuloma presenting as a lacrimal sac fossa mass has not been previously reported. We examined a 2-year-old boy who had epiphora in the left eye since ...

Solitary Fibrous Tumor of the Lacrimal Gland Fossa
Ophthalmology, 1996Solitary fibrous tumors are rare spindle cell neoplasms that most commonly arise in the pleura. Recently, solitary fibrous tumors of the orbital soft tissues have been described. The authors report the first case of solitary fibrous tumor arising in the lacrimal gland fossa and discuss features that may distinguish solitary fibrous tumor from other ...

Morphological Study of Fossa For Lacrimal Sac: Contributions by Lacrimal and Maxilla
Journal of the Anatomical Society of India, 2012Abstract Fossa foclacrimal sac, houses lacrimal sac and its lower end (orbital opening) continues through nasolacrimal canal to open into the inferior meatus of nose. Surgical procedures like dacryocystostomy and dacryocystorhinostomy are performed extranasally and endoscopic endonasal dacryocystostomy is done intranasally. Lacrimal bone and frontal
