Computed tomographic assessment of the lacrimal sac fossa in the Japanese population

Annals of Anatomy, 2019
To analyze the morphology of the lacrimal sac fossa in the Japanese population using computed tomographic images.One-hundred-fifty-five Japanese patients diagnosed with unilateral orbital fracture were retrospectively reviewed. Measurements of the dimensions of the lacrimal sac fossa were taken on three anatomical planes (upper, middle, and lower ...

Lacrimal Gland and Fossa Lesions: An Approach to Diagnosis and Management

Ophthalmology, 1979
Lesions of the fossa of the lacrimal gland present special problems in diagnosis and management. Clinical recognition and differentiation of benign mixed cell lacrimal gland tumors from other inflammatory and neoplastic lesions of the lacrimal gland fossa are feasible and should provide the basis for the approach to proper management.

Primary Extracranial Meningioma of the Lacrimal Sac Fossa

Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, 2018
Primary extracranial meningioma is a rare tumor, unlike its common intracranial counterpart. Infrequently found in the head and neck region, it can cause local or neurologic symptoms depending on its location and interaction with cranial nerves. While uncommon, it is an important diagnosis to have on the differential of periorbital lesions as surgical ...

Lacrimal Fossa Lesions: Pictorial Review of CT and MRI Features

Orbit, 2008
A wide range of disease process involve the lacrimal gland/fossa. In this pictorial review, we use histology-proven cases to illustrate conditions that affect the lacrimal gland/fossa. CT and MRI features of neoplastic, inflammatory, infiltrative, and developmental conditions are discussed.

Lacrimal Gland and Fossa Lesions: Role of Computed Tomography

Radiologic Clinics of North America, 1987
The lacrimal gland region can be involved in a wide spectrum of orbital pathology, including tumors and inflammatory and lymphoid lesions. This article focuses special attention on benign mixed tumors because of the excellent prognosis for the patient when it is completely excised at first surgery.

Benign Hemangioendothelioma of the Lacrimal Gland Fossa

JAMA Ophthalmology, 1979
A mass was surgically removed from a patient who complained of a swelling in the lacrimal gland fossa. Histopathologic evaluation of the mass showed an unusual variant of the benign capillary hemangioma that exhibited abundant endothelial cell proliferation, and that could alternatively be classified as a benign hemangioendothelioma.

Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma of the Lacrimal Gland Fossa

Southern Medical Journal, 1989
We have described a patient with a biopsy-proven mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the orbit. Although it may have represented a metastasis from a malignancy of the upper respiratory tract, clinically it appeared to be a primary neoplasm of the lacrimal gland.

Measurement of Lacrimal Sac Fossa Using Orbital Computed Tomography

Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 2017
To evaluate the clinical usefulness of measuring the lacrimal sac fossa length using orbital computed tomography in normal Koreans. The authors retrospectively evaluated 140 patients (70 males and 70 females) who underwent orbital computed tomography at Guro Hospital and who had no history of orbital disease or orbital trauma.

Expansion of the Lacrimal Gland Fossa by a Lymphoid Tumor

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1983
The preoperative diagnosis of lacrimal gland lesions is particularly important because a benign mixed tumor should be completely excised without violation of its capsule, whereas a malignant epithelial, lymphoid, or chronic inflammatory lesion requires incisional biopsy before definitive therapy.
