A survey of the English medical literature reveals that there are six documented cases of aberrant tissue with a structure identical to that of the lacrimal gland involving the eye. Of these only two extended onto the cornea. It is the purpose of this paper to review the known information on this subject and to present such a congenital abnormality in ...

Unilateral Congenital Lacrimal Gland Agenesis With Contralateral Lacrimal Gland Hypoplasia

The puncta and salivary glands may also be aplastic. Lacrimal gland carcinoma (LGC) is a very rare malignancy with no established treatment other than surgery [1]. If conservative surgery cannot be applied, orbital exenteration is the only treatment of choice with curative intent [2–6]. Therefore, effective and less invasive treatment methods are urgently needed.

Aberrant Lacrimal Gland in the Orbit
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1970THE medical literature contains few reports of aberrant or ectopic lacrimal gland tissue. There are two reports describing aberrant lacrimal gland tissue in the orbit causing exophthalmos. Boudet and Bertezene in 1964, 1 reported a case of exophthalmos due to lacrimal adenoma in an extopic position in the orbit.
