A Simplified High‐Performance Liquid Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry Method for Quantifying Soluble Sugars in Plant Leaves: Comparative Extraction Evaluation With Improved Sensitivity

open access: yesSEPARATION SCIENCE PLUS, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT The development of rapid and reliable methods for soluble sugar analysis is essential for routine applications in plant physiology, ecology, and agriculture. Conventional techniques for sugar quantification often require dedicated detectors, derivatization steps, or lengthy sample preparation, limiting throughput and sensitivity.

Evolutionary divergence and functional insights into the heteromeric cis‐prenyltransferase of Paramecium tetraurelia

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 6, Page 1681-1707, March 2026.
Heteromeric cis‐prenyltransferases (CPT) are indispensable for dolichol synthesis and protein N‐glycosylation in most eukaryotes. The catalytic subunits are strongly conserved throughout evolution, in contrast to the evolutionarily variable accessory subunits. The POC1 protein from Paramecium tetraurelia is the smallest identified CPT‐accessory subunit

Agrobacterium-Mediated Transformation of Lettuce (Lactucae sativa)

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry, 1997
Lettuce cultivars, Diana and Cobham Green were used for transformation using the binary vector system of Agrobacterium tumefaciens. A ß-1,3-glucanase gene from Arthrobacter driven by the 35 S promoter and NPT II gene expressed from Nos promoter were involved as scorible and selectable genes, respectively.

Revisiting the relationship between stomatal size and speed across species – a meta‐analysis

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 5, Page 2338-2354, March 2026.
Summary The rate of stomatal opening and closure in response to changes in light affects leaf photosynthesis and water use. However, it is unclear how strongly stomatal size (SS) and density (SD) influence stomatal conductance (gs) kinetics, and whether variation arises from methodological differences, guard cell type or degree of amphistomaty.
