Dynamic Predation Model for Controlling Soybean Aphids (Aphis glycines): A Case Study of Simulated Artificial Release of Ladybugs (Harmonia axyridis)

open access: yesAgronomy
The Soybean aphid (Aphis glycines) is a destructive pest that threatens soybeans. In order to develop green and effective control strategies, we propose an EQPAL epidemic model that integrates four developmental stages (1st–2nd stage nymphs, 3rd stage ...

Generation cycles in experimental populations of a multivoltine insect

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 95, Issue 5, Page 782-794, May 2026.
Although theory suggests various mechanisms by which environmental and ecological factors may drive generational fluctuations, our field‐cage experiment is the first to demonstrate how internal dynamics and external disturbances jointly produce synchronised, large‐scale outbreak cycles.

SISTEMA PARA APOIO NA PRODUÇÃO DE LAUDO DE PASSIVO AMBIENTAL EM RODOVIAS COM IMAGENS TERRESTRES TRIDIMENSIONAIS

open access: yesColloquium Exactarum, 2017
A integração de tecnologias digitais vem criando novas opções de soluções para problemas já conhecidos. Imagens e mapas digitais auxiliam administradores na tomada de decisão e melhoram os padrões de qualidade e segurança nas rodovias. O mapeamento móvel

A systematic review on research trends and commercialised entomopathogenic nematodes: A global perspective

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 298-313, May 2026.
Out of 136 identified EPNs, only 18 (8 Steinernema and 6 Heterorhabditis) are commercialised globally, highlighting a major gap between discovery and application. High production costs and inconsistent field efficacy are the leading obstacles to the widespread commercialisation of EPN‐based biocontrol products.

Feeding Preference and Foraging Behaviour of Eriopis connexa on Two Aphid Species

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, Volume 150, Issue 4, Page 444-453, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Aphids are phloem‐feeding insects that cause both direct and indirect damage to crops, reducing agricultural productivity. Among the available pest control strategies, biological control using natural enemies is a sustainable and effective approach. The ladybird Eriopis connexa (Germar, 1824) is a generalist predator known for its voracity and

Genetic Variation in Chemical Defence Affects Protection of an Herbivorous Insect Against Predation

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 35, Issue 9, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Genetic variation contributes to intraspecific differences in the chemical defence in many insect species, yet the underlying genetic mechanisms remain poorly understood. The horseradish flea beetle, Phyllotreta armoraciae, sequesters glucosinolates from its horseradish host plant and activates them using endogenous myrosinase enzymes.

Contactless Acoustic Trapping of Hoverflies for Behavioral Studies

open access: yesAnnals of the New York Academy of Sciences, Volume 1559, Issue 1, May 2026.
We present a contactless tethering device based on acoustic levitation. Opposing ultrasonic transducers generate standing waves, creating stable pressure nodes that enable the sustained levitation of hoverflies (Episyrphus balteatus). We show that acoustic levitation does not appear to affect hoverfly behavior.
