Abstract The purpose of this paper is to present facts and theory of thermometric time lag in a form suitable for industrial users of thermometers. The emphasis will be on the distant-reading type of thermometer, actuated by liquid expansion (mercury or other liquids), gas expansion, or vapor pressure, and mercury-in-glass therometers.

Time-lagged Directed Information
2011 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2011Directed Information (DI) has recently been introduced to quantify the causality between two signals. However, one major remaining issue with DI is the computational complexity which increases dramatically with the length of the signal. Current simplified DI computation methods are either model dependent or focus on short-time intervals losing most of ...

Deflection Lag, Load Lag, and Time Lag of Buried Flexible Pipe
Journal of ASTM International, 2011Abstract The Iowa formula was published by Professor M. G. Spangler of Iowa State Univ. in 1941 to predict the deflection of buried flexible pipe. In the equation, he used the term “deflection lag” to describe the increase in flexible pipe defection after the maximum load was reached over the pipe.

An investigation has been made of the time-lag in magnetization in a permalloy wire to determine whether lag can be satisfactorily accounted for as due to eddy-currents alone or whether permalloy shows a marked magnetic viscosity such as has been observed by Ewing in iron wires. Eddy-current lag has been calculated approximately in a manner which takes
