A PLETHORA3/7 transcription factor shapes cucumber shoot architecture

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 250, Issue 1, Page 230-245, April 2026.
Summary PLETHORA transcription factors (PLTs) are master regulators of plant development. Loss of shoot meristematic PLTs leads to reduced phyllotactic regularity and robustness in Arabidopsis and increased inflorescence branching in tomato. Whether these factors have similar functions in other species is not known.

Separate and synergistic anti‐herbivore effects of non‐glandular trichomes and leaf chemistry in a desert plant

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 40, Issue 3, Page 736-749, March 2026.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Plant defence phenotypes commonly integrate physical and chemical traits that may act synergistically against herbivores, but empirical evidence for synergy as a defence strategy remains limited.

Uncovering the Key Factors Influencing Phytochemical and Phytopharmacological Properties During Medicinal Plant Processing

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 1, February 2026.
From farm to pharma, this review details the engineering of quality in medicinal plants through a science‐driven approach: it first elucidates how genetic and environmental factors inscribe the plant's phytochemical and phytopharmacological profile before harvest, and then dissects the postharvest techniques and technologies—chemical and thermal pre ...

Molecular Mechanisms of Anti‐Inflammatory and Immunomodulatory Activities of Key Phytochemicals: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesJournal of Tropical Medicine, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Phytochemicals derived from medicinal plants represent a rich and largely underexploited source of anti‐inflammatory and immunomodulatory agents. Chronic inflammation and dysregulated immune responses underpin many tropical and global diseases, including infectious, autoimmune, and metabolic disorders. This review examines the spectrum of plant‐derived
