Lagerstroemia (Lythraceae) in Malesia

An enumeration of the 11 indigenous species of Lagerstroemia accepted for the Malesian area is presented with additionally three cultivated species. It includes descriptions of 6 species, notes, synonyms, and keys for flowering and fruiting specimens. All names are typified. Studied herbarium collections, mainly in L, are briefly mentioned.

Chiunque abbia a cuore le piante del proprio giardino, deve avere osservato, almeno una volta, alcune tra le manifestazioni patologiche più comuni ed indicate correntemente con il termine di “oidio” o “malbianco”. Il nome deriva dalla caratteristica muffettina biancastra che si origina di solito sugli organi più teneri delle piante attaccate.
