Context. Surface brightness–colour relations (SBCRs) are widely used to estimate the angular diameters of stars. In particular, they are employed in the Baade–Wesselink distance determination method, which relies on the comparison between the linear and ...

Aiming at the scientific frontiers of in situ fluidized mining of deep resources, a deep coal fluidized pipeline lifting system based on hydraulic conveying has been proposed. To solve the issue of particle sedimentation of large particles in horizontal connection sections, a solution involving the installation of guide vane‐type swirlers in the ...

Study on fracture parameter calibration and failure characteristics of rock with hole and crack
The SIF and plastic zone equations for a single hole and crack have been derived. The model's failure state leads to the identification of four types of cracks. The plastic zone increases with increased brittleness and decreased crack length. Abstract Cracks within the surrounding rock of roadways significantly affect their stability and failure ...

This paper investigates the high‐pressure water jet‐pick combined rock‐breaking mode (HPC), which employs high‐pressure water jets to precut grooves on both sides of the picks. The rock‐breaking patterns and performance of the HPC method are obtained, and the auxiliary rock‐breaking mechanism of water jet grooving is revealed.

Gaia and IRTF abundance of A-type main-belt asteroids
Context. The so-called missing-mantle problem is a long-standing issue in planetary science. It states that olivine-rich asteroids should be abundant in the main belt, while this is observationally found not to be the case by dedicated surveys ...

There Cannot Be Genuine Sensation Without a Real Sensed Thing [PDF]
In this essay, Fr. Garrigou-Lagrange refutes Kantian and occasionalist notions of sensation that have been smuggled into Thomism and Catholic thought.
