Lagrangian approach to a symplectic formalism for singular systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We develop a Lagrangian approach for constructing a symplectic structure for singular systems. It gives a simple and unified framework for understanding the origin of the pathologies that appear in the Dirac-Bergmann formalism, and offers a more general ...

Comparison of Different Approaches to Construct First Integrals for Ordinary Differential Equations

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
Different approaches to construct first integrals for ordinary differential equations and systems of ordinary differential equations are studied here. These approaches can be grouped into three categories: direct methods, Lagrangian or partial Lagrangian

Geometry of quantum dynamics in infinite dimension

open access: yes, 2017
We develop a geometric approach to quantum mechanics based on the concept of the Tulczyjew triple. Our approach is genuinely infinite-dimensional and including a Lagrangian formalism in which self-adjoint (Schroedinger) operators are obtained as ...

A Discrete Approach to Meshless Lagrangian Solid Modeling

open access: yesComputation, 2017
The author demonstrates a stable Lagrangian solid modeling method, tracking the interactions of solid mass particles rather than using a meshed grid. This numerical method avoids the problem of tensile instability often seen with smooth particle applied ...

Photoproduction of K*Σ in an effective Lagrangian approach [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
All the available data on differential cross sections, total cross sections, spin density matrix elements, and parity spin asymmetry for the γp → K*+Σ0 and γp → K*0Σ+ reactions are analyzed within an effective Lagrangian approach.

The starfish experiment: a Lagrangian approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The present paper analyses the free surface deformation of a liquid metal drop under the influence of an alternating magnetic field. The analysis is restricted to the first axi- symmetric mode oscillation.

Predicting Atomic Charges in MOFs by Topological Charge Equilibration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An atomic charge prediction method is presented that is able to accurately reproduce ab‐initio‐derived reference charges for a large number of metal–organic frameworks. Based on a topological charge equilibration scheme, static charges that fulfill overall neutrality are quickly generated.

Master Equation for Lagrangian Gauge Symmetries [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Using purely Hamiltonian methods we derive a simple differential equation for the generator of the most general local symmetry transformation of a Lagrangian. The restrictions on the gauge parameters found by earlier approaches are easily reproduced from

Topology and Material Optimization in Ultra‐Soft Magneto‐Active Structures: Making Advantage of Residual Anisotropies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Residual magnetization induces pronounced mechanical anisotropy in ultra‐soft magnetorheological elastomers, shaping deformation and actuation even without external magnetic fields. This study introduces a computational‐experimental framework integrating magneto‐mechanical coupling into topology optimization for designing soft magnetic actuators with ...

General approach to the Lagrangian ambiguity in f(R, T) gravity

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2021
The f(R, T) gravity is a theory whose gravitational action depends arbitrarily on the Ricci scalar, R, and the trace of the stress–energy tensor, T; its field equations also depend on matter Lagrangian, $$\mathscr {L}_{m}$$ L m . In the modified theories
