Palaeolimnology of Adelaide Tarn, a ~14,000-year-old low-alpine glacial lake, northwestern South Island, New Zealand [PDF]
A palaeolimnology study has been carried out on a ~14,000 calendar [cal]-year-old low-alpine glacial lake, Adelaide Tarn. The lake is located in a cirque basin at ~1260 m elevation in the Tasman Mountains, just below present-day treeline, within ...

High resolution seismic and ground penetrating radar-geophysical profiling of a thermokarst lake in the western Lena Delta, Northern Siberia [PDF]
High resolution seismic and ground-penetrating radar (GPR) have been acquired over Lake Nikolay in the western Lena Delta (Siberia) in order to study the uppermost basin fill and the bordering frozen margins. GPR measurements were completed on the frozen

The human brain's imagination, which enables autonomous driving hazard avoidance by completing missing visual information, relies on Gaussian‐stochastic neuron. We report the altermagnetic RuO2 spintronic neurons integrating field‐free switching and intrinsic Gaussian stochasticity, building an all‐spin ANN for high‐quality image repairing and high ...

Rediscovering Sodium Ionophores as Selective Agents for Lithium Recognition and Extraction
Long‐classified sodium ionophores unexpectedly prefer lithium and act as efficient extractants in solid–liquid extraction (SLE). Readily prepared from catechol and haloacetamides, these hosts recover hydrated LiCl from multicomponent salt mixtures via a hydration‐assisted O···Li+ binding mode, enabling scalable lithium separation with Li/Na, Li/K, and ...

The tectonic influence on the last 1500-year infill history of a deep lake located on the North Anatolian Fault: Lake Sapanca (N-W Turkey) [PDF]
Lake Sapanca on the North Anatolian Fault zone (NW Turkey) is a pull-apart basin at the junction between the İzmit-Sapanca fault segment, the Sakarya segment and the westernmost end of the Mudurnu Valley fault.

Application of impulse radar to continuous profiling of tephra-bearing lake sediments and peats: an initial evaluation [PDF]
Subsurface interface radar SIR, or impulse radar, uses electromagnetic pulses for continuous stratigraphic profiling. It has been applied to lake sediments (dy-gyttja) and peat deposits containing a sequence of thin, late Quaternary, ash-grade tephras at

We investigate the geometry‐governed optoelectronic anisotropy arising from dielectric confinement in quasi‐1D γ‐GaS nanoribbons with intrinsically isotropic atomic structures. Dielectric mismatch between the nanoribbon and its surroundings leads to a general polarization‐dependent photoresponse during near‐field scattering.
