Global Winds Shape Planetary‐Scale Lamb Waves
In 2022, the Hunga volcano eruption in Tonga generated atmospheric pressure waves that propagated globally and produced tsunamis in all the world's oceans.

Numerical modeling and measurement by pulsed television holography of ultrasonic displacement maps in plates with through-thickness defects [PDF]
We present a novel numerical modeling of ultrasonic Lamb and Rayleigh wave propagation and scattering by through-thickness defects like holes and slots in homogeneous plates, and its experimental verification in both near and far field by a self ...

Detection of coatings within liquid-filled tubes and containers by mode conversion of leaky Lamb waves [PDF]
In this paper, a new acoustic sensor principle for coating detection within liquid-filled tubes and containers based on mode conversion of leaky Lamb waves is introduced.

Phase-sensitive detection of Bragg scattering at 1D optical lattices [PDF]
We report on the observation of Bragg scattering at 1D atomic lattices. Cold atoms are confined by optical dipole forces at the antinodes of a standing wave generated by the two counter-propagating modes of a laser-driven high-finesse ring cavity.

Subsonic Lamb waves in anisotropic plates [PDF]
A six-dimensional complex formalism for analysis of Lamb waves propagating with subsonic speed in anisotropic plates is formulated. Conditions for nonexistence of certain Lamb waves in anisotropic plates are obtained. An example of a transversely isotropic plate having “forbidden” speed at which no subsonic Lamb wave propagates is presented.

Modes Control of Lamb Wave in Plates Using Meander-Line Electromagnetic Acoustic Transducers
The multimode and dispersion characteristics of Lamb waves make them difficult to apply to nondestructive evaluation. This paper presents a paired configuration of a meander-line coil electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) to generate a single-mode ...

A Lamb wave lens for acoustic microscopy [PDF]
In a conventional scanning acoustic microscope the excited leaky modes contribute significantly to the high contrast obtained in the images. However, all such modes exist simultaneously, and the interpretation of the images is not straightforward, especially in layered media.

Eigenstates of the Atom-Field Interaction and the Binding of Light in Photonic Crystals [PDF]
We solve for the exact atom-field eigenstates of a single atom in a three dimensional spherical cavity, by mapping the problem onto the anisotropic Kondo model.
