Exploring Routes to Calculating the Effective Magnetic Permeability of Polymer Magnetic Composites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue 2, Page 981-988, 20 January 2026.
Schematic of a static (undeformed) configuration of the magnetic‐filled polymer network for a semi‐crystalline sample. ABSTRACT Our understanding of the effective magnetic permeability of composite materials composed of randomly dispersed metallic ferromagnetic particles within a nonmagnetic (polymer) matrix must respond to several challenges.

Investigation of Coxiella burnetii distribution in a Scottish dairy cattle herd with history of stillbirths

open access: yesVeterinary Record, Volume 198, Issue 2, Page e61-e67, 17/24 January 2026.
Abstract Background Coxiella burnetii is a bacterial pathogen that can cause abortion and reproductive disease in livestock. In the UK, C. burnetii affects many dairy cattle herds, although the infection dynamics are poorly understood. Our study was performed to investigate infection patterns within a dairy cattle herd in Scotland that had experienced ...

Growth Rate and Energy Dissipation in Wind‐Forced Breaking Waves

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 1, 16 January 2026.
Abstract We investigate the energy growth and dissipation of wind‐forced breaking waves at high wind speed using direct numerical simulations of the coupled air–water Navier–Stokes equations. A turbulent wind boundary layer drives the growth of a pre‐existing narrowband wave field until it breaks, transferring energy into the water column.

In Situ Balloon‐Borne Observations of the Vertical Structure of Relative Humidity in Asian Summer Monsoon Cirrus Clouds

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 1, 16 January 2026.
Abstract The vertical structure of relative humidity within cirrus clouds in the upper troposphere remained unexplored, owing to measurement challenges. Twelve years of balloon‐borne simultaneous measurements of upper tropospheric humidity and optical particle backscatter during the Asian summer monsoon are used to consolidate our understanding of ...

Quantifying Suspended Sediment Dynamics Under Energetic Nonlinear Internal Waves of Depression

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 1, 16 January 2026.
Abstract While nonlinear internal wave (NLIW) trains are known to influence near‐sea bed suspended sediment dynamics, the mechanisms remain a topic of debate. We present near‐sea bed observations of suspended sediment concentration C $C$ and estimates of vertical sediment flux, at high vertical‐ and temporal‐resolution, during trains of NLIW of ...
