Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Positive solutions for perturbations of the Robin eigenvalue problem plus an indefinite potential

open access: yes, 2019
We study perturbations of the eigenvalue problem for the negative Laplacian plus an indefinite and unbounded potential and Robin boundary condition. First we consider the case of a sublinear perturbation and then of a superlinear perturbation.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Behaviour of the potentials due to strangeness degree of freedom in $_{\Lambda\Lambda}^6$He hypernucleus

open access: yes, 2006
Fully correlated study of $_{\Lambda\Lambda} ^6$He hypernucleus has been performed with two- and three- baryon potentials. For the S=-2 sector, various simulations of Nijmegen $\Lambda\Lambda$ potential models have been used.

Low‐Activation Compositionally Complex Alloys for Advanced Nuclear Applications—A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐activation compositionally complex alloys (LACCAs) are advanced metallic materials primarily composed of low‐activation elements, offering advantages such as rapid compliance with operational standards and safe recyclability. This review highlights their potential for extreme high‐temperature irradiation environments as structural materials for ...

Crystal‐Symmetry‐Driven Build Orientation and its Impact on the {110}<100> Goss Texture Formation and Mechanical Properties of Laser Powder Bed Fused AISI 316L

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores a crystal‐symmetry‐based approach to optimize mechanical properties in laser powder bed fused AISI 316L with predominant {110}<100> Goss textures. By varying the build orientation, the microstructure can be tailored and the tensile properties optimized. The tilted build (T110) achieved the highest strength while preserving ductility,

Cooperative Detection of Multiple Targets by the Group of Mobile Agents

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
The paper considers the detection of multiple targets by a group of mobile robots that perform under uncertainty. The agents are equipped with sensors with positive and non-negligible probabilities of detecting the targets at different distances.
