Foliar anatomy on twelve genera of Bignoniaceae (Lamiales)
Acta Botanica Hungarica, 2004The foliar anatomy of the 12 genera (16 species) of Bignoniaceae found in West Africa was studied and compared. Observations were carried out by light microscope (LM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Across the family, anatomical characters found to be most useful are: stomata type, trichomes in the adult material, presence of peristomatal folds,

Affinities of the Lamiales: A Cladistic Analysis
Systematic Botany, 1982The Boraginaceae and Scrophulariales have each been proposed as the closest extant relative of the Lamiales (i.e., Labiatae plus Verbenaceae). Char- acters supporting the two hypotheses are evaluated in light of cladistic principles. Character polarity is determined primarily through outgroup comparison. Because of uncertainty about the identity of the

Recent Progress in Understanding the Evolution of Carnivorous Lentibulariaceae (Lamiales)
Plant Biology, 2006Abstract: Carnivorous plants have emerged as model systems for addressing many ecological and evolutionary questions, and since Lentibulariaceae comprise more than half of all known carnivorous species (325 spp.), they are of particular interest. Studies using various molecular markers have established that Lentibulariaceae and their three genera are ...

Lamiales: Introduction and Conspectus
2004Lamiales as presented here are a well-supported clade of the Lamiids (Bremer et al. 2002) found in all major, recent molecular studies of the Asterids (APG II 2003; see also Wagenitz 1992). The Lamiids, comprising approximately 23,600 species in 1140 genera, are herbaceous or less commonly woody plants with often opposite leaves.

Acaricidal effects of three essential oils extracted from Mexican oregano leaves (Lippia graveolens Kunth), rosemary leaves (Rosmarinus officinalis L.), and garlic bulbs (Allium sativum L.) on 10-d-old Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus (Canestrini) tick larvae were evaluated by using the larval packet test bioassay.

Lamiales epidermal dynamics: Unveiling antimicrobial resilience in a structural symphony
Microscopy Research and TechniqueAbstractThis research on Lamiales epidermal anatomy not only provides in‐depth understanding of their structural traits but also highlights the significance of uncovering the inherent antimicrobial resilience embedded within these plants. Such insights hold promise for advancing natural product‐based approaches in medicine, potentially contributing to ...

Abstract:The Lamiales are one of the largest orders of angiosperms, with about 22 000 species. The Scrophulariaceae, as one of their most important families, has recently been shown to be polyphyletic. As a consequence, this family was re‐classified and several groups of former scrophulariaceous genera now belong to different families, such as the ...

Scrophularia koraiensis, a new synonym to Scrophularia kakudensis (Lamiales: Scrophulariaceae)
Phytotaxa, 2015Scrophularia Linnaeus (1753: 619), is one of the largest genera of Scrophulariaceae, includes about 270 exant species, and is predominantly distributed in Holarctic regions of both the Old and New World (Olivencia, 2009; Olivencia & Devesa, 1993). Scrophularia koraiensis was first described by Nakai (1909) based on material collected in mount Kum ...

Abstract Lamiales is an order of core eudicots with abundant diversity, and many Lamiales plants have important medicinal and ornamental values. Here, we comparatively reanalyzed 11 Lamiales species with well-assembled genome sequences and found evidence that Lamiales plants, in addition to a hexaploidization or whole-genome triplication
