Tribology International, 1987Abstract A mathematical model to determine the stiffness and damping coefficients and the stability limit curves of a journal bearing in a non-laminar lubrication regime is described. The results show the flow regime influence on the dynamic characteristics of cylindrical bearings and on the stability of a rigid rotor on rigid supports.
