Fire resistance of Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) and Cross-Laminated Timber (XLAM) elements

open access: yes, 2012
Engineering design of timber structures in fire conditions is crucial to ensure high safety levels. Wood is subjected to degradation under fire exposure therefore its thermal and mechanical behaviours change. Timber design must take the decrease of timber performance into account to calculate structural elements that can carry external loads also if ...

PRODUCTION OF LAMINATED VENEER LUMBER LVL USING VENEER OF Schizolobium amazonicum, Eucalyptus saligna AND Pinus taeda

open access: yes, 2015
This research evaluated the quality of laminated veneer lumber - LVL manufactured with veneers of Schizolobium amazonicum (paricá), Eucalyptus saligna and Pinus taeda. The LVL panels were manufactured in the laboratory conditions composed by seven veneers, 2,0 mm thickness, with different structural compositions, using phenol-formaldehyde resin.
