Seasonal variation of yield and composition in extracts from immature and mature Eucalyptus bosistoana leaves

open access: yesFlavour and Fragrance Journal, Volume 38, Issue 4, Page 293-300, July 2023., 2023
Mature leaves possessed higher 1,8‐cineole proportions but contained less total oil than immature leaves. E. bosistoana essential oil of higher quality and quantity can be obtained by harvesting in summer. Abstract Seasonal variations of yield and composition in microwave extracts from mature and immature Eucalyptus bosistoana leaves were monitored for

Thermal response of timber connections in the cooling phase

open access: yesFire and Materials, Volume 47, Issue 4, Page 479-497, June 2023., 2023
Abstract Structures are conventionally designed to maintain load‐bearing capacity during the heating phase of a fire. However, in structures with moderate or high thermal inertia, the thermal field which results in the lowest structural resistance is likely to occur after the heating phase.

Stiffness and strength evaluation of prestressed timber beam with unbonded steel Strand and reinforced concrete Beam‐Column joint

open access: yesJAPAN ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW, Volume 6, Issue 1, January–December 2023., 2023
Deformation stages. Abstract The deformation behavior of prestressed timber beams after a gap opens at the beam‐column interface is evaluated in this study using the compressive stress distribution along the beam length. The correlation between moment at the beam end and beam deformation is studied for three types of specimens.

Engineering Wood Products from Eucalyptus spp.

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Forest covers 4.06 billion hectares (ha) or 31% of the total land area worldwide, where 93% (3.75 billion ha) are natural regenerating forests and the remaining 7% (294 million ha) are planted forests. Eucalyptus spp., being one of the most important plantation species, has been planted in 95 countries around the world, and the area of plantation has ...

A Comparison on Numerical Simulation Models for Vibrational Performances of the Wood Truss Joist Floor System

open access: yesShock and Vibration, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
Wood truss joist floors are increasingly used to replace traditional solid timber joist floors in low‐rise timber houses. An understanding of the vibration performance of wood truss joist floors is critical for the design and serviceability of the floors.

Laminated veneer lumber (LVL) manufacturing using three hybrid poplar clones

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry, 2012
Laminated veneer lumbers (LVLs) were manufactured from veneers of 3 rotary peeled fast growing hybrid poplar clones, I-214 (Populus xeuramericana), I-77/51 (Populus deltoides), and S.307-26 (Populus deltoides), with a phenol formaldehyde (PF) adhesive. Two Populus deltoides clones that are grown in Turkey were used for the first time in LVL production.

Variation of Density and Dynamic Modulus of Elasticity of Poplar Veneer and Its Impact on Grade Yield

open access: yesBioResources, 2017
To maximize the value of poplar wood in manufacturing of laminated veneer lumber (LVL), its radial (from pith to bark) and longitudinal (from bottom to top) variations were examined in terms of the density and dynamic modulus of elasticity (ED) of veneer.
