Wood–bamboo–wood laminated composite lumber jointed by linear vibration–friction welding
European Journal of Wood and Wood Products, 2013The linear vibration-friction welding offers several advantages compared to traditional mechanical fasteners or gluing. This study examines the possibility of applying mechanically-induced vibration welding to the joining procedure of a wood-bamboo sandwich-laminated composite. The result shows that average tensile strength values of the composites can

Glue-Line Stresses in Laminated Wood
Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1946Abstract With intensified use of timber beams, consisting of laminations of relatively thin boards and planks glued together, the problem of glue lines coming apart under changing conditions of moisture content in the timber has become of considerable importance. From an examination of glued timbers undergoing changes in moisture content,

Bond quality at the FRP–wood interface using wood-laminating adhesives
International Journal of Adhesion and Adhesives, 2009Abstract Fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP)-strengthened glulam would be a more economically viable product if a single adhesive type could be utilised at all the bonded interfaces. This paper describes a test programme that examines the hygrothermal compliance of five commercial wood-laminating adhesives when bonding commercially viable FRP materials to

Impregnating Compositions for Lamination of Wood Materials
Polymer Science, Series D, 2020The technology for producing SP-250 modified melamine–formaldehyde resin is presented and its physicochemical characteristics are determined. Using SP-250 modified resin and several domestic technological additives instead of imported additives, formulations of impregnating compositions for laminating chipboards were developed.

High Frequency Bonding of Laminated Wood
Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1944AIRCRAFT production engineers have long sought detailed information regarding the laminated wood construction process which has been under development for a number of years by the Duramold division of the Fairchild Engine and Airplane Corp. for production of the company's AT‐21 advanced trainer and PT‐19 Army patrol‐torpedo planes. This information has

Cross laminated timber panels to strengthen wood floors
2008Cross laminated timber panels are generally used to build walls and floor slabs of wood houses, but they have interesting mechanical characteristics to be used for strengthening ancient wood floors in restoration interventions. In particular they can be connected to the existing wood beams to have a floor diaphragm effect under seismic actions.
