ABSTRACT Exhaustive long‐term and large‐scale ice jam records are scarce in most cold river environments. Many discrete events occur in small, sparsely populated river systems and are poorly represented in open‐source databases. These observation biases are transferred to predictive models of ice jams and the collective understanding of their formation

Landsat-8/9 Atmospheric Correction Reliability Using Scene Statistics
Landsat data correction using the Land Surface Reflectance Code (LaSRC) has been proposed as the basis for the atmospheric correction of smallsats. While atmospheric correction can enhance smallsat data, the Landsat/LaSRC pathway delays output and may constrain accuracy and utility.

Analisis Perbandingan Nilai Ndvi Landsat 7 Dan Landsat 8 Pada Kelas Tutupan Lahan (Studi Kasus : Kota Semarang, Jawa Tengah) [PDF]
Landsat 8, the on going mission of the Landsat satellites that have provided over 40 years of images, continues to benefit long-term research. However, it is important to know if the spectral features of Landsat 8 are the same standard as previous ...

Robotics‐assisted acoustic surveys could deliver reliable, landscape‐level biodiversity insights
Deploying and maintaining sensors is often a major bottleneck in collecting rapid biodiversity data. We tested whether autonomous hopping drones equipped with acoustic recorders could collect reliable biodiversity data in Costa Rica. Using 26,000+ hours of existing audio from 341 sites, with machine learning detections of 19 bird species and spider ...

Evaluating methods for high‐resolution, national‐scale seagrass mapping in Google Earth Engine
Marine habitat mapping using satellite imagery can provide baseline and monitoring data across large spatial scales and in remote locations globally. This study evaluates how key methodological choices influence the accuracy of open‐source (for non‐commercial use), cloud‐based satellite mapping workflows for seagrass meadows in the Maldives.

Tree canopy height is a key indicator of forest biomass and structure, yet accurate mapping across the Amazon remains challenging. Here, we generated a canopy height map of the Amazon forest at ~4.8 m resolution using Planet NICFI imagery and a deep learning U‐Net model trained with airborne LiDAR data.

Monitoring Near-Shore Bathymetry Using a Multi-Image Satellite-Derived Bathymetry Approach [PDF]
Two advanced survey systems for hydrographic surveying are multi-beam echsounder (MBES) and airborne lidar bathymetry (ALB). Compared to more traditional hydrographic surveying methods, these systems provide both highly accurate and a dense coverage of ...
